7.11.25 - Meet the Summer Fridays: TASI Bank’s 2025 Interns Making Waves

07.11.2025

Every summer, we open our doors — and our minds — to a group of driven, curious, community-focused interns who don’t just fill chairs. They fill gaps. They bring ideas. And they remind us why banking with purpose starts with people.

This year, we’re proud to introduce three extraordinary interns from three extraordinary schools — each one bringing a unique background, a bold perspective, and a Maverick mindset to TASI Bank. Meet Flora, Kaia and Eileen, — our Summer Fridays crew.

Flora Balme:

University of Denver, Major: Public Policy (Economics & Law focus) | Minor: Business Administration

Flora is one of those rare combinations: policy brain, financial heart, and Vampire Weekend on shuffle. She joins us from the University of Denver, where she’s studied everything from ethical finance to the intersection of law and economic justice.

She’s previously worked with The Morgan Adams Foundation, supporting research and fundraising, and WomenSave, gaining early insight into financial access and community empowerment.

She’s passionate about people-first finance, public policy, and building systems that work for everyone. Which, to be honest, makes her a perfect fit at a bank like ours.

Her dislikes? Turtles, avocados, and oranges. Her vibe? Introspective, purposeful, and always ready to walk it out in Golden Gate Park.

Kaia Weirlangt:

University of Michigan, Interned with: U‑M Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI)

Kaia is the kind of intern who can take a messy Excel doc and turn it into operational art. During her internship at Michigan’s ODEI Business Office, she supported finance and HR, analyzed budget reports, cleaned up payroll data, and built efficient systems to streamline their workflows.

She’s calm under pressure (except when Excel crashes) and laser-focused on impact. Whether she’s swimming, hiking, or in downward dog, she’s grounded in purpose — and deeply committed to the people and teams around her.

She hates being late. She hates soggy cereal. And she really hates drivers who skip their turn signals. But what she brings to the table is equal parts precision and empathy — the very ingredients that make banking better.

Eileen Santillano:

UC Santa Cruz, Major: Business Management Economics

Eileen is all about community impact, creative hustle, and financial literacy — and she’s been living that since high school. She interned with MYEEP twice, first as a teacher’s assistant supporting student engagement, and later in a virtual internship covering the nuts and bolts of credit, taxes, and budgeting.

When she wasn’t teaching finance, she was working the floor at Century 25 Cinemark, delivering guest service with flair — and building a small business on the side, doing acrylic nails and vintage clothing sales on Depop.

She’s entrepreneurial, thoughtful, and full of fire. She values resilience, growth, and refuses to be underestimated. (We don’t recommend trying.)

In her downtime, you’ll find her thrifting, checking out new restaurants, or running her own creative empire on the side.

Why It Matters

At TASI Bank, interns aren’t just observers — they’re contributors. Each Friday this summer, we’ll spotlight our Summer Fridays interns as they dive into projects across departments, learning what it means to bank with a mission, serve real communities, and lead with curiosity.

Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes photos, blog updates, and a bonus podcast episode featuring all three.

Welcome to TASI Bank, Flora, Kaia and Eileen. You’re exactly the kind of Mavericks we’re proud to grow with.
