5.7.25 - Bringing It Back Home: TASI Bank Sponsors Premiere of “Something to Call Our Own”
05.07.2025Celebrating Chamorro Culture at Prubechu, San Francisco
TASI® Bank is proud to serve as the exclusive sponsor of the San Francisco premiere of Something to Call Our Own, a new PBS Guam documentary that chronicles the revival of modern Chamorro dance and the cultural resilience of the Chamoru people. The film debuts May 18 at Prubechu, the only Chamorro restaurant in the Bay Area, located at 2224 Mission Street.
At the heart of the film is Master Frank Rabon—teacher, visionary, cultural warrior—whose life work reimagined a fading tradition and returned it to a new generation hungry to reclaim their identity. From Guam to the global stage of FestPAC, the documentary explores the evolution of modern Chamorro dance and its power to connect people across oceans and generations.
“The Chamorro community has been waiting for this,” said Shawn Camacho, co-owner of Prubechu. “It’s not just a film—it’s a celebration, a reclamation, and a reminder of who we are.”
A Night to Remember
The event, hosted outdoors at Prubechu, will include a private screening, cultural conversation, and a curated tasting menu from celebrated Chef Shawn Naputi. Prubechu—recently named one of the Bay Area’s Top 100 Restaurants—has built a reputation for delivering bold, authentic Chamorro cuisine and powerful community experiences.
“We’re honored to help bring this story to San Francisco,” said Alan Gaul, Vice President of Marketing and Brand at TASI Bank. “It’s not just about the past—it’s about pride, perseverance, and passing something down that matters.”
TASI Bank’s sponsorship reflects our commitment to the communities we serve—on Guam, in California, and throughout the Pacific. While Prubechu and TASI Bank don’t currently share a commercial relationship, Camacho noted that the Bank did assist the restaurant with PPP loans during the height of the pandemic. “That’s where the relationship began,” he added.
